The Woodpatch Quilters held their 12th bi-annual Quilt Exhibition at the Lobethal Centennial Hall on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd.

Between 10 and 4 on both days, a steady stream of people came to admire the wide variety of beautiful quilts on display.

There were large quilts exquisitely hand-quilted and smaller quilts with appliqué, stitchery or whimsical patterns, which drew exclamations of delight.

A pin cushion display showed the variety of items these ladies can make.

There were trading tables and Sue from Bridge Agencies sold fabrics and patchwork supplies from an on-site shop.

From solid gold to liquid gold, this award winning winery is built on, and indeed grows in, some of the richest mineral soils around. The Nugent family bought this fertile piece of South Australia in 1997, with the view to creating world class produce and experiences.

The winery is situated near the hills town of Woodside, on Bird In Hand Rd, which was named after the 1800’s gold mine. With such positive inferences in the name, and a perfect site for grapes and olives, viticulturist and wine maker, Andrew Nugent, knew this was an unsurpassed opportunity.

Top of the Torrens Gallery was abuzz for the opening of the Birdwood High School Exhibition on Friday, 14th November, which was opened by local artist Bill Cook, who was an art teacher for 40 years.

He complimented the students and the teachers for the high standard of work, which will be moderated for year 12 assessment at the Gallery. Hannie Khune’s photos of 100 pairs of hands of every age from 1 to 100 are fascinating and Elke Cunningham’s brilliant rain forest collage is a feature.
