
It was Friday the 10th of October and the weekend weather forecast was great. There was a certain excitement about the town of Lobethal. The electric atmosphere felt like Christmas Eve and you could tell something special was coming. The streets vibrated with the rumble of engines in various stages of preparation. Every now and then, one of those beautiful machines would power by, on a test run of the 1938 Lobethal Grand Prix track, which would soon come alive once again.
If I said Dodge Special, Vauxhaull J Model, Super Charged MG, ‘A’ Model Ford, AT Chevrolet or Ford V8 Special, you’d think I was just talking about old fashioned cars. Well these are not just cars, they are mechanical masterpieces, built to race with thumping engines and graceful bodylines. These majestic beasts, and more, will be devouring the Lobethal racing circuit in a spirited demonstration of their prowess, and in the footsteps of their predecessors.

The weather was glorious at the Uraidla Oval for the 24th ‘All British Day’, held on Sunday, February 10th. Over 750 cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles were on display, including a bright red early model Dennis fire engine. All marques were represented, including a fine display of Rolls Royce vehicles, Jaguar, Austin (an Austin 1800 pictured far right), Lotus and Triumph.
