Onkaparinga Meats, at 15 Main Street, Lobethal, is changing hands. Long time butchers, Bill and Sandy Ledder, are handing over to Lobethal residents, Colin and Jodi McPherson.

Bill and Sandy are exchanging their early, freezing mornings for some well earned sleep! They’ve been in the butchering game for many years, which all began for Bill (pictured right) in 1955 when he became an apprentice in his father’s butcher shop on Grange Road, Fulham Gardens.

The Lobethal Bowling Club was rapt to have a visit from local MP, Mark Goldsworthy recently. Mr Goldsworthy was warmly welcomed to the Club by President, Bill Mayes and Vice President, Kay Elsworthy, pictured right.

Bill and Kay were very grateful to accept, on behalf of the Club, a cheque, presented by Mr Goldsworthy, from the Active Club Program. This Program provides support for sporting and recreation clubs to facilitate and encourage people to live an active lifestyle.

Elderly participants at Mt Barker’s Wundalea Day Centre are ditching bingo in favour of virtual boxing, ten pin bowling, golf, tennis and baseball using Nintendo Wii, thanks to a new project sponsored by Australian owned bb’s cafe.

The local Day Centre is one of the first of over 50 Australian facilities to receive a Nintendo Wii and Sports game to include as an innovative part of their residents’ activity program. bb’s café, Mt Barker owner, Glennis Fantis, said she was thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved in such a unique project.

“No matter what your age or state of health, your playing days are never over,” Mrs Fantis said.
