There’s a whole lot of country in this wonderful Country Fair, which also included a Field Day, Animal Expo and Adelaide Hills’ food and wine tasting. Even before setting foot on the fair grounds, the scene was set by a huge Ferris wheel which was visible well beyond the oval limits. It soon became obvious that this was going to be a traditional fair, with free and varying entertainment all day long. Sure you could choose to spend your money on the amusements, market stalls, antiques, books or fairy floss, but the “country element” was apparent when you could also purchase a rainwater tank, fertiliser, horse float, a chainsaw, homemade cakes, solar panels or a cow!
The President, Committee and members of the South Australian Woodside Country Women’s Association are pleased to announce that funds are available now for distribution to a local worthwhile community project.
If any readers are associated with an ongoing community project local to Woodside/Oakbank which would benefit in some way from some additional funding (up to $500 per project) then we would urge them to write to us.
It was Friday the 10th of October and the weekend weather forecast was great. There was a certain excitement about the town of Lobethal. The electric atmosphere felt like Christmas Eve and you could tell something special was coming. The streets vibrated with the rumble of engines in various stages of preparation. Every now and then, one of those beautiful machines would power by, on a test run of the 1938 Lobethal Grand Prix track, which would soon come alive once again.
