You’d like a bloke who loves football, cars and motorbikes: a bloke who grew up in the hills and now lives on a 10 acre hobby farm with his wife and children. You could relate to someone who has been influenced by his father and some might say, following in his footsteps: a bloke who considers himself an absolute hills person. These criteria could fit many people in the hills, but the person I am talking about is Mark Goldsworthy (pictured above).

He is our sitting parliamentary member for the electoral district of Kavel. He is passionate about his community, one that he, and his own children, have grown up in. He has been our elected member for the last 8 years and enjoys driving around the district, attending to the diverse issues faced by the locals. Continue reading STILL LOCAL

The former Top End Takeaway in Lobethal now has a new look, feel and purpose. To the average person it may seem like any other “take away cafe”, but there is a subtle and very important distinction: the new owners, Marissa and John Greiner, are experienced chefs – high quality food is their life.

The modern décor, with deep red and earthy colours, alongside the new stainless steel kitchen, expresses their stylish approach. The menu balances conventional with contemporary. Traditional Italian pizzas include Puttanesca, Quattro Formaggi and Proscuitto e Funghi. Or for something more modern, you might like the Vegetarian, Spicy Mexican, Meat-lovers or BBQ Chicken pizza – using only organic chicken. All meals are made from scratch by Marissa and John on the premises; pizza bases, curries, burgers, sandwiches, cakes and all day breakfasts. Fresh batter is made daily for the fish and chips, along with mayonnaise and tartare sauce. John even uses his own brew in the beer batter for that authentic taste. Continue reading Greiner’s Kitchen
