Perhaps you would like to know more about the piece of china Auntie Marj left you?
Come and join the classes to be conducted in the Torrens Valley Community Centre, Gumeracha, commencing on October 18th and running until November 22nd.
For 2 hours a week (10am to 12pm) we will be showing, discussing and learning about all sorts of Victoriana, Australiana, glass, ceramics, Oriental and collectables of the future.
Jan Hopper of Gumeracha Antiques will also show and discuss some of her favourite pieces.
Jan and her husband John, have been in business for 20 years and have collected for over 30.
They have a large library of reference books and those who enroll in the course will be able to use rare and out of print texts to examine and identify unusual pieces.
Jan will also explain silver marks, logos, monograms and registration marks.
Each week a new subject will be discussed.
Included in the cost of the course will be notes and recommended reading.
Each participant will be able to have at least six pieces of their own identified and valued during the course and receive hints about up and coming collectables to watch out for.
The only thing to bring will be an exercise book, a pen and plenty of curiousity!
We will be in a spacious, air conditioned room and we are sure to find time for a cup of coffee or two!
If you are interested, please telephone 8389 1243 for further information and enrollments.
If there is enough interest we may even run future classes in the evenings.
