Gumeracha Green Community Shed off to a flying start!

Gumeracha Green Community ShedThe Gumeracha Community Shed (affectionately named “The Green Shed”) participants have just finished their first project assisting the local school children from Gumeracha Primary School. The shed has been busy making outdoor draughts for the children to paint and use in their games. The materials for the draughts have been kindly donated off-cuts from various sources. What a wonderful community partnership – business, community and schools working together.

The Green Shed is still in it’s infancy but already has good community support from the Torrens Valley Lions Club donating the materials to line the shed along with a joint submission to Adelaide Hills Council for a rain water tank for the shed. We have also been offered many good quality tools and materials from the community.

Currently a small group meets every Thursday from 9:30am for a couple of hours and works on projects the Community Centre requires. They are currently working on new shelving and racks for the Torrens Valley Op Shop. Soon we will be constructing a Community Garden so if you are interested in popping in and lending a hand or just having a look – you are very welcome.

The shed will be looking at running workshops to assist people learn new skills along with increasing opportunities for people to meet others. It will be a shed that is available for all men, women, young and old. Shed location is behind the Gumeracha Town Hall (Albert Street), Gumeracha.
