Hills Band Festival 2009

Hills Band Festival 2009The Hills Band Festival brings 9 great bands with around 200 musicians together in one big afternoon concert.

Community Concert Bands, Brass Bands and School Bands come together to perform jazz, swing, pop, classical and anything in between.

The wide variety of entertainment is sure to suit anyone’s musical tastes.

The festival will be held on Sunday, June 28th from 12:30pm to 5pm at the Lobethal Centennial Hall, Main Street, Lobethal.

It features performances by: Adelaide Hills Concert Band, Cornerstone College, Hahndorf Town Band, Minor Magic (pictured above), Mt Barker District Concert Band, Strathalbyn & District Concert Band, Tea Tree Gully Concert Band, St. Johns Grammar School and Trinity College.

The Hills Band Festival includes a 25 minute performance by each of the participating bands.

The afternoon’s entertainment is a casual affair with tea and coffee, refreshments, snacks and a sausage sizzle available throughout the performances.
You can enjoy a few of the bands, or stay for the whole festival!

Now in its sixth year, the annual festival is a major fundraiser for the Adelaide Hills Concert Band, who hosts the event.

This event began back in 2004 with the idea of fostering relationships between the school and local community bands, and give participating musicians of all ages an opportunity to perform together in a relaxed environment.

Local schools and bands continue to eagerly support the event, gaining a great sense of fellowship and enjoyment from the performances.

The high level of participation of young musicians points to a great future for Concert and Brass bands in our community.

This year, the Strathalbyn & District Concert Band will be at the festival for the first time, and we look forward to an entertaining performance from them.

If you love music, particularly the fantastic sound of live brass, concert and jazz bands, come along for the afternoon and join in the festival.

What better way to spend a winter’s Sunday than to relax and be entertained with the sounds of brass, wind and rhythm!

Tickets: $10 for adults, $5 for concession and free for children under 15!
