Woodside Community Seniors Centre … worth a visit!

Woodside Community Seniors CentreWoodside Community Seniors Centre (previously know as Onkaparinga Day Care) has been servicing the community for over 25 years. Located in a beautiful setting at 36 Nairne Road, it runs programs from 10am – 2pm including lunch, three days a week – a mixed session on Tuesdays, a men’s program on Thursdays and a Women’s day on Fridays. Programs are prepared with particular emphasis on promoting independence, wellbeing and social engagement. We are able to provide door to door transport to the program with the support of our wonderful volunteer bus drivers and assistants.

There have been some changes recently and a new Coordinator has been appointed. Monthly programs offer a diverse range of interesting activities, including theme days, outings and guest speakers on a wide range of topics. Recent theme days have included “Greek Day” with delicious Mousaka for lunch and some traditional greek activities, “Produce and Preserves” and “Summer Holidays” and fun in the sun, complete with our own beach sand, shells, fish and chips and ice creams! Outings have included a “Sticky Beak Tour” of our district and a trip to a Native Animal Farm with lunch at the pub afterwards.

Upcoming activities include outings to Monarto Zoo and Hahndorf, Poet’s Day, Scotland the Brave theme day, Aged Rights Advocacy Service guest speaker and a mid year “Yulefest”!

We are also holding a joint “Biggest Morning Tea” event on Friday, May 22nd with the Aldgate Seniors Centre. Please call us if you would like to attend and help us to support this wonderful event.
If you would like to visit the centre or find out more about us, please contact the coordinator on 8389 7544 or 0407 976 940. We would be happy to send you our latest newsletter and activities program.
