WORLD VISION Knitting Programme

WORLD VISION Knitting ProgrammeRight: Delia Smit, Nell McQuire, Anne Cooper, Heather Lee and Valda Hanna proudly “showing off” some of the knitted garments for World Vision and also for the Premature babies section of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital at a recent Church service. The whole church was decorated with garments – rugs draped over pews, the pulpit and communion rails whilst toys adorned the organ, beanies in the window sills and jumpers and scarves along the aisle, pews and kneeling pads.

It was a most colourful display! The following week many of the knitters attended a Thank you Morning tea, hosted by the Guardian Pharmacy of Tanunda. 273 garments were taken to the Pharmacy from where they will be distributed by World Vision for children in Mongolia.

Spotlight Ltd of Munno Para were very generous in donating over 130 knitted squares for us to sew into rugs for World Vision, when two of our knitters attended a Knitting and Craft day there. The World Vision knitting programme finishes at the end of August. However, we will be continuing with knitting as there are so many needy people within South Australia needing warm woollen garments.

We wish to thank our many friends and acquaintances who continue to support us with their knitting and for those who donate wool. It is all very much appreciated and we couldn’t achieve so much without the help of the “wider community”.
