Lobethal Bowling Club receives Active Club Grant!

Lobethal Bowling Club receives Active Club Grant! The Lobethal Bowling Club was rapt to have a visit from local MP, Mark Goldsworthy recently. Mr Goldsworthy was warmly welcomed to the Club by President, Bill Mayes and Vice President, Kay Elsworthy, pictured right.

Bill and Kay were very grateful to accept, on behalf of the Club, a cheque, presented by Mr Goldsworthy, from the Active Club Program. This Program provides support for sporting and recreation clubs to facilitate and encourage people to live an active lifestyle.

The grant in this case is to assist in the purchase and installation of flood lighting to compliment the new synthetic greens at the Lobethal Bowling Club. This will enable people who live in the district, but who are inhibited by hours of work and travel, to have the opportunity to practice or play social bowls at a more leisurely pace or in the heat of summer to play a game in the cool of the evening.

For some years now, the Lobethal Bowling Club has conducted a Wednesday “Night Owls” competition which has been quite successful, but, it is felt that more people would be given the opportunity to participate if the starting time could be a little later than the current 6pm.

The Lobethal Bowling Club is a progressive club which actively encourages anyone interested in trying or playing bowls to have a go, even during the winter.

And yes, coaching is available!
